Senior Marketing Manager
About us
Our company, Mayday, is one of the fastest growing accounting-tech startups on the planet. We’re building automation tools and artificial intelligence to save finance teams from the pain of manual work. We’re hyper ambitious with a huge long term vision. We will mend month-end and enable real-time accounting.
Mayday was founded by two experienced entrepreneurs – David Tuck, an accountant then CFO by training who founded Chaser; and James Scott-Griffin, a software engineer who was CTO at Idio (now Optimizely) and Rungway.
We’re three years into our journey. We’ve got an amazing team of twelve already in place, based in the UK, Australia and South Africa. We have an incredible foundation for growth in 2025 and beyond.
David has spoken extensively about our journey on his build-in-public blog, Starting Up Again. Our values (with the link to the relevant post explaining each) are: Delight, Ownership, Curiosity, Boldness and Balance.
You’d be joining at a time when we already have strong growth in customer numbers and revenue. We have ambitious plans and an incredible position of category leadership from which to grow. Our customers are huge advocates for our product – we’re proud to have over 260 reviews at a perfect 5 star rating on Xero’s App Store (and growing!). We won Xero’s Emerging App Partner of the Year Award for 2023. We have pre-seed investment from A* backers. We have such an exciting journey ahead of us.
About the role
We've had an incredible three years. We grew our monthly recurring revenues by 13x over the last 18 months, off the back of extremely strong product-market fit. We have a clear and exciting product roadmap. Now we need to double down on our proven growth levers (Events & Partnerships) to establish dominance in our market.
This is a high-impact, hands-on role with serious growth potential. You’ll report directly to the incoming Head of Marketing and take the lead on some of our most successful and visible channels: events, partnerships, and brand.
You’ll have a clear budget to work with across industry conferences, owned events, and community campaigns, along with the freedom to shape the strategy, not just execute it. As the company grows, there’s a clear path for this role to evolve into a senior leadership position with full ownership of these areas.
If you’re looking for a role where you can take real ownership, make your mark, and grow alongside the company, this is it.
What you’ll be doing
Over the last year, we’ve seen strong growth from our events, partnerships, and community-led efforts. We’ve hosted two flagship events sponsored by Xero and GoCardless, launched multiple webinar series with 1,000+ registrants, and organically grown our CFO TechStack community to over 5,000 engaged finance professionals.
In 2025, we’re doubling down. We’re looking for someone to take the reins on events and partnerships marketing — and help us turn this traction into a scalable, growth engine. This is a hands-on role for someone excited to build campaigns that bring our community to life and drive demand.
Your top priorities:
1. Events Strategy — your primary focus
- Own our full events roadmap — from webinars to flagship in-person experiences
- Bring our CFO TechStack community to life through thoughtful, well-executed activations
- Build repeatable playbooks for both virtual and IRL events that generate leads and deepen engagement
2. Partnership & Ecosystem Marketing
- Design and execute our partner marketing strategy
- Build relationships with Xero-connected apps, accountancy firms, and ecosystem partners
- Collaborate with Product and Commercial to amplify integrations, co-marketing, and referrals
3. Marketing Collateral and Campaign Support
- Repurpose event and
webinar
content into high-quality evergreen assets like ebooks and guides - Support with creation and delivery of marketing materials across the funnel — including newsletters, product launch communications, and landing pages
4. Brand (room to grow here)
- Support our brand evolution — from visuals and messaging to our website and event assets
- You don’t need to own this from day one, but if you’re into it, there’s real room to shape our brand identity
Your experience and skills
- You’ve created and owned an events roadmap — from planning to execution — for at least 2 years.
- You’ve worked on partner or ecosystem marketing (e.g. HubSpot apps, Xero, Shopify), and know what makes partnerships successful.
- You’re a strong communicator, comfortable writing both short- and long-form marketing content. You know how to distill complex topics into clear, digestible copy that resonates with the right audience.
- You have a good design eye — bonus points if you’re handy in Canva or similar tools.
- You can work independently: You’re happy to pick up projects and just ‘figure it out’ when needed, but you know when to ask for help.
Nice to have:
- Background in finance or accounting tech
- Experience working in fast-moving startups or small marketing teams
- Experience Marketing Ecosystem products (e.g Hubspot, Shopify, Salesforce, Zapier, Stripe)
- You’re thoughtful or interested in brand, even if you're not a "brand marketer" by title.
The package
- Salary starting £45 - £60k (depending on experience)
- Share options from day one
- 25 days holiday + public holidays
- Learning time baked into your day;
- Work with lovely and experienced humans who love puns.
