Marketing Coordinator

About Mayday

We’re an accounting-tech startup building automation to save finance teams from the pain of manual work. We’re hyper ambitious with a huge long term vision. We will mend month-end and enable real-time accounting.

We’re founded by two experienced entrepreneurs: David Tuck, an accountant then CFO by training who founded Chaser; and James Griffin, a software engineer who was CTO at Idio (now Optimizely) and Rungway.

We’ve had a brilliant first two years. We’ve built an incredible initial team in the UK and are now actively growing our presence in Australia!

David has spoken extensively about our journey on his build-in-public blog, Starting Up Again, where you can read about our core values: Delight, Ownership, Curiosity, Boldness, and Balance.

We have over 200 5-star reviews from our customers. We won Xero’s Emerging App Partner of the Year Award for 2023. We’ve secured pre-seed investment from A* backers. We’re ready to go!

The Opportunity

Having hired our first two APAC-based roles earlier this year, we’ve continued to experience rapid  growth with more on the horizon - which is why we are so excited to now be hiring for a Marketing Coordinator.

This is an entry-level role with SO much scope to grow. You’ll be reporting to the APAC Commercial Lead, and working closely with our Head of Marketing, this role includes a great mix and breadth of tasks. It will be primarily focused on marketing, content and community.

A great opportunity for an ambitious new starter who is keen to explore the fast-moving, exciting and fun life of working in a startup.

Whoever takes up this role will be fully in-charge of their own future, with the possibility of promotion in a number of directions as the business grows!

What You’ll Be Doing

Outbound Marketing & Lead Nurturing: Supporting lead nurturing programs, tracking progress of prospective clients through the sales funnel, and ultimately helping to drive more business in our Australian market.

Social Media & Content: Collaborating closely with our Head of Marketing, you will take ownership of being the creative lead for Australian marketing content and social media posts (creating amazing images, slide decks etc)!

Community & Events: Working with our Content & Community manager, you will quickly become the go-to for organising Australian based events with partners and the community. Examples might include expanding our CFO Techstack’s finance leader advisory council (FLAC) into AU.

Supporting New Customers: Running alongside our APAC Commercial Lead you will pitch in with simple demos and customer check-ins. You don’t need to come with a passion for sales, just a willingness to give it a go!

Operations: Other ad-hoc operational projects as and when they arise.

And many many more exciting things!

Given the breadth of exposure, this will be an incredible career-shaping role for the right person!

About You

Ambition, lots of it: You are ready to jump in the deep end to learn and grow in your career!

Curious and adaptable: You are excited about the opportunity to try new things, have a broad scope of work day-to-day, and are willing to do a few tasks (such as sales demos) that might not feel completely comfortable.

Hyper-organised and a great communicator: We need someone who can stay on top of a variety of different tasks, communicate clearly with clients and keep their team up to date on progress of key projects. Juggling a few plates is tough, being organised is key!

Happy to work independently: You’re happy to pick up projects and just ‘figure it out’ when needed, but you know when to ask for help. And you’re comfortable working (predominantly) remotely, and driven to be productive, even when left alone.

Constantly wanting to improve: Startups are all about agility, so being flexible and constantly trying to improve is important. You won’t mind things changing, and where you spot room for improvement, you’ll take action!

From a geographic perspective, you will ideally be based in or near Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide.
